Drive by blogging…

Written by kaikai

Hello! I’m pretty sorry but I was super busy the last few weeks and I still am, so I just uploadeda few pics from my new hood. Check Flickr, it’s a beauty here! I’m taking off to Munich right now before hitting some Alp Trails in Flims on the weekend with my buddys from the Pott…Time to take a deep breath… Cheers!

Postercrap

Written by kaikai

Ooops, I mean Poster-Grab, you know, it’s this tweaked method grab that can be found on 99% of all the postcards that cover a snowboarder, mostly in pink skin-tight so-called “functional” gear and blablabla… Anyway, this was the Trick of the weekend and my Buddy Pete did quite well to style the hell out of it. So all I can say after our little sessions: Snowboarding is great! Since I’ve moved into the mountains plenty of the sweetest spots are only a few kilometres away and I’ve been enjoying powder for 4 weekends now. That’s good and it’s even better to do that with friends AND it’ll be even more stylish with the 2009 Snowboard Apparel. Welcome back in the 80’s with neon BlingBling hightech mixtures. Love it! Hmmm, and what else can I say? Well, my Buddy Pete I love him too! Even if he is the worst filmer in the whole world he’s always down for a Trip and that’s great.

My View

Written by kaikai

Luckily a week is blessed with seven days… After 5 days of looking at a scene like on the picture the weekend was finally there and Mother Nature somehow realized that too. In fact this meant pure sunshine and 22°C, a sweet dirt session in the Allgäu on Saturday, some of this years’ last powder snow garned with epic views on Sunday morning and a beautiful sunset on the in the evening. Yeeeeep…If you like to get a picture of “my view” check the flickr pics (click) – especially this pretty cool panorama shot of the big mountains – and this short video (click). I hope you all had some sunshine too. Sincerely, Chris Brown aka red…

A perfect day…

Written by kaikai

Sorry it has been a while since the last entry. My excuse for this are a bunch of 9to10 working days, a hotel room with no internet connection and the daily busy business… During those not-too-great periods it’s kind of normal to think about how life should actually be or just about the so called “perfect day”. But in between handling all kind of things and numerous office sounds there’s not too much brain-capacity left for those thoughts. So the expected “Level” of a perfect day shrinks to a minimum. In fact this means that heading out to the Alps very own “dangerzone” Galtür, riding some Powder in Ischgl and spending the evening on my dirtbike on a muddy track was more or less what I’d call a perfect day for now. But I think this should be the start of an evolution.
The next best day should start together with some good buddys from a nice flat with internet connection to some singletrack riding and a good evening in the mountains. The day after that should be covered with some more riding on the way to Italy and some saturday-evening-falling-in-love in Milano. And on Sunday it all should be crowned with some more Freeriding on the mediterranean sea and taking a swin in the afternoon. Even though this’ll be a perfect weekend it is another parallel evolution, too. The next step is a perfect year and on and on and on…keep working it out.

10 weeks

Written by kaikai

First of all – considering the picture – I have to say: “No, I’m not getting married to a 40 year old mother with five kids from different dads and we’re not expecting the sixth one in ten weeks AND it’s not my goal to do that ever!”
In fact I’m pretty much the same person as ever but there are currently some major changes going on. But due to my blogging tradition I won’t write anything about my business life. So the other “major changes” are: Since I’ve laft Hamburg last year I’ve been travelling pretty much to a lot of cool places, I’ve been riding my Bike on sweet spots across the world (OK, not the whole world but some cool parts of it) and I always did that using Airplanes, Rental Cars or Mums Car and now the Moment of Truth has come. I bought my very first own car. It was quite a mission to find something that doesn’t kill your time doing work on it and that was able to carry bikes and offer a sleeping place and something that doesen’t kill your bank account, too. So I really wanted to get one of those Toyota Tacomas or an old “Colt Sievers” Ford but it was almost impossible to get those cars in a good condition for an acceptable price in Germany so I had to look for something else. In fact when you can’t get one of those cool western cars don’t go west HEAD OUT EAST! “Logan, Aller!”
So this is my new Dacia LOGAN and due to it’s unbeatable price I have to wait 10 weeks until it arrives all the way from Romania. And even if this car is not a beauty it has got soul! Well, I mean a soul that can offer you a sleeping place as well as a mobile bike garage and it’s French engineering. Hopefully I can get a set of DeeMax Rims for it… So if anybody at Mavic will run across my Blog…ehm…I’d be interested in getting the some stickers, hehe, gimme gimme!

Ooooigh…what a week! My o.g. plan was to drive back from Austria on Friday morning, spending the night at my dad and return to home on Saturday in order to go for some practice sessions for the DH-Race in Krefeld on Monday. Well, it did not work out at all.
On Thursday evening I got informed that the Friday in Austria was a regular working day…too bad. So I had to work until late late Friday and was not able to drive back that day. So I spend another night at the “funny motel” and started my odyssey back home on Saturday morning. It took forever due to tons of tourists that were leaving from their Easter Holidays. I arrived at my dad’s house on late late Saturday evening and felt really exhausted. So I switched my plans to return home on early Sunday in order to get some practice on that day. It did not work out again because some more traffic jams hindered me in getting back home at an acceptable time… So, NO practice – only sitting in a car seat for forever and a weather forecast that predicted snow and rain for the race day. So I just did a workout and went to bed much too late.
On Monday morning my cellphone rang me out of bed after 4,5 hours of sleep. The weather wasn’t looking too bad and my buddy Daniel and I decided that we’d head out to Krefeld in order to do our first DH Race.
When I got out of the shower and looked out again the sky had turned to black and it was snowing and raining. SHIT! Anyway, Daniel came along and we chilled a while before we finally decided to head out no matter the weather just to say hi to our friends who organized the race. On our way through the “Ruhrpott” the weather got better and better and as we arrived at the course the sun was shining bright and a ton of mud-covered mountainbikers was chilling on the parking lot. After we got our bikes ready the one and only Simon Superstar informed us that the race was starting right then. So no practise again! Totally cold and not knowing how slippery the course was we found ourselves climbing up to the start. The other racers somehow all looked like pros to me and seemed to be pretty well warmed up. I can tell you this: Dropping into runs cold really sucks a lot. In fact I thought I could ride a bit faster with my new Muddy Mary tires but after the first third and right before a not-walk-able passage my front tire slipped away. When I got up I saw that my handlebar was turned 50° and there was not spot in reach where I could got it fixed quickly. So I had to ride this rock garden with my twisted riserbar until I got to a tree where I could fix it back. While I was hucking it against the tree a girl from the crowd came up and told me that she felt sorry for that…hmmm. Probably not the best time for some flirting… So the rest of the run was great and I was one of the fastest in the lower part of the course…but the overall time sucked.
Being aware that I had just lost my virginity in DH racing and that the others were just humans I was much more relaxed before my second run. In fact I made it clean and pinned down a pretty good time which got me into the top ten but my first run made me ending up 15th. Still not too bad but I think I can be much faster with a good warup and a more relaxed week before racing. Anyway the “race fever” has caught Daniel and me and it is great fun to have such a sickness. We’re looking forward for the next race and some good sessions in between. Mountainbiking rocks!
Riding away with a bright smile on my face I just want to thank all the boys from team dropsau for making this sweet Monday happening.

Alps again…

Written by kaikai

So I’m just in another week driving through our pretty sweet country on our pretty shitty Autobahn… Beside meeting new people, staying at a quite funny motel and working in Austria I had some nice views frrom my drivers seat. I don’t know why but during the last few weeks I propably spent more time on that seat than on any other chair…hmmm…should I think of the importance of car seat design, new concepts, innovations…nope, I’ll start doing that when the automobile industry comes up with something that doesn’t kill your time as much as driving on Autobahns. Luckily I’m looking forward to spent some good times on another seat aka saddle after the easter-weekend…

Please VOTE!!!

Written by kaikai

Alright Folks, the voting has just begone, so please make sure to click on the picture above and be the judge for our future…
Always remeber: If you love us we love you, well, and if you don’t we do nevertheless, but somehow we all would love to cruise in the black H3 watching Pro7 and sipping a chilled Warsteiner in the back before selling it to Dieter Bohlen, so please make this happen.
(I hope this under-cover-ad brings a few extra clicks..)
Thanks for voting and while you are doing that I’ll be heading down south again to recruit some more fans in Liechtenstein. Cheers!

Weeeeeeew!

Written by kaikai

After heading out south on very very early Friday morning and handling a date in Austria I was pretty much beat and decided to stay for a night. Somehow I though that it’d be kinda smart to profit from the journey by going Snowboarding the next day, so I just called my gooood ol’ buddy Pete from Frankfurt to come down too in order to do some rippin. Well, he did and the next morning we were on our way up the hill.
When Pete and I meet it’s always that kind of flow that makes you doing those things…that are a bit difficult to describe. In fact we just did a lot of pretty cool stuff and stayed for another day filled with some more cool stuff. In between those two pretty cool sessions a ton of other fun things happened:

– we fell in love with the girl from the gas station but were cool enough not to let her know, cool…
– my 15 euro ebay snow pant is pretty not pretty but a red shirt with blue sky are quite sweet
– a 50% Rotation is not enough for Backflips
– we’re great posers
Powder rocks
– Weeeeeeew!

Thanks Pete for being you and thanks me for being me and thanks us for being weird. Soooo, now it’s time to roll back home and start a new week of amazing design discoveries and some more weeeeeeew’s!
Wie wir abgehen… Ultra!

Danger Donnerstag

Written by kaikai

Ladies and Gentleboys, it’s the end of the day and here is our first 2008 Dangerboys Adventure! And just by the way: This is our official flick for the 2008 Warsteiner and Pro7 SnowShow Video Award. Eventually this means that the Dangerboys will be riding around in a flat black Hummer H3, it’s all up to the VOTING. In case we’ll prefer to travel the Dangerboys Way and save the planet this will mean another positive feedback on my ebay account and the first ever Dangerboys Budget – and just imagine what you’ll get for that… Enjoy!
